Welcome, friends and comic lovers, to the premiere issue of Adventures of the Scarlet Mutton! This is the first in what we hope will be a long line of new, entertaining comic books that Mindstorm Comics is excited to bring to life in the coming months.
Creating a comic book has been a personal dream of mine—a way to pay homage to the adventure heroes I adored as a kid. The Scarlet Mutton, without apology, is born from this love. You may notice he bears a resemblance to classic adventure tropes, but with a fresh dose of fun and a dash of drama and action to keep things engaging.
I wanted to craft a story that brings back the spirit of classic adventure—a lighthearted, kid-friendly fantasy where good and evil are clearly defined. In an era where values often feel blurred, The Scarlet Mutton strives to revive those basic ideals that made past stories so memorable. Whether I succeeded, I leave for you to decide.
As a side note, we haven’t used the entire first issue to explain our hero’s origins; instead, we offer a 13-page, condensed version, with a full recounting to follow in an upcoming issue. To set the stage, we present the climactic clash between our “sheeple” hero and his arch-nemesis, the notorious wolf racketeer, Big Al Lupine—the first in what promises to be a lively gallery of rogues.
